No, I have not been discomboobulated yet!

Yes, I know that word only has one “o” but in my case I think it should be a double. FINALLY, two weeks from today, I will be at MD Anderson in Houston, finding out the fate of said boobies.

I say “boobies” because where one goest, I think the other should goest. After all, they are a matched set, unlike my daughter’s whose set doesn’t match at all. I’m not giving away secrets here. To see the disparity, one only has to look at her — when she’s naked, which hardly counts at all since she is a workaholic, doesn’t date, and isn’t married. I mean, the girl is hardly ever naked nowadays, even though she works from home and could be naked 24/7 if she wanted to be. [This paragraph is a test for my daughter to see if she REALLY reads The Texas Woman!]

Anyway, I don’t want to have to go through life trying to keep my chest level or equally poufed. I’m too old for vanity, too young for cancer, which reminds me of my cousin Janice who says she's too light for heavy housework and too heavy for light housework. I always liked Janice. I should keep in touch more often.

I won’t miss my C cups at all. At least that’s how I feel right now. I might feel different when I wake up with nothing. Nada. Zip.

I have been busy while waiting to be summoned to The Big C Hospital. M-I-L has been critically ill…twice. We’re talking with Hospice today to put in motion her next steps through life. Such sadness and, between her situation and mine, such pressure on my poor husband. Thank God for his strong shoulders and loving heart.

  1. I can understand wanting to keep them evenly paired. This coming from a guy who has to keep all his bills facing forward in his wallet and in exact order by denomination. So, yeah, I "get" that need for a sense of order and balance.

Praying for you, your M-I-L and IT Guy.

  4. We all know you are more than just a little throwed off, so why be off balanced too?
I'm keeping you in my prayers and I'll add your MIL. Hospice is wonderful organization. I'm willing to bet you are already as familiar with their work as I am.
Watch that sweet man of yours. Thank God for loving husbands with broad shoulders! Every woman should be so lucky.

All I can say is do what you gotta do and get on with life. You keep us informed, okay? I am still available for whatever you need! We can even watch The Young and Breastless together! :)

  8. I love this post! I was "dicomboobulated" a few years back and, oh the pleasures of going bra-less! For almost a year, I had one, but not the other. I looked like I was in a constant state of winking (with my chest) So, the other had to go- plus I'm a Libra (hey, see the "bra"??) and I must be balanced. So, not to worry -with all the money saved on bras, you will have so much fun!!!

  12. Oh my, can you pile any more on your plate woman? Hubby must be a gem. Boys have hard times with losing moms though, so I will add IT Guy to my prayer list. Had a girlfriend who donated left breast to the cancer fund. She went 3 years until she couldn't stand it anymore and went and had the other majorly reduced. She said now it isn't as painful to sleep at night and always having trouble with clothes and uncomfort. She is so glad she just got rid of the other too... she says now she can move on... Best of luck with any and all your decisions and just remember they are YOUR DECISIONS... xo

  17. Ok... where to begin....1/2 a cup size disparity is not the deformaty you describe; its the DD and DD1/2 thats intimidating. As for always or never NAKED... oh the humanity, you do remember your grandson is only 17 and still living at home. If I had my druthers, 'OFF WITH THE CLOTHES', after all like mother llike daughter.

Keep the positive attitude! Like everything else... attitude is 98% of the game. We will get through this as a family and all be stronger for it.

    Love,
    Your Only Daughter CodeWoman

  18. I'm sorry about your MIL. Your poor husband should reach 'sainthood' (is that a even a word? doubt it!) soon. Keeping your family in my prayers. Go easy on your daughter. You never know what pictures she may decide to post of you. :-)
