My collections are out of control!

An auctioneer once told me that if I had one of something, I liked it.
If I had two of them, I was a collector.
Three or more of something, he said, and I’d be a hoarder.

So I’m a hoarder.
Wanta make something of it?

The only problem I have as a hoarder is how to display all my treasures.
So in some cases I’ve taken to stacking things.

Big Stacks
Small stacks.

Wide Stacks.

Narrow stacks.

I'm just a stacking hoarder!

End of post. But then some wonderful, anonymous commenter wrote these lovely words:

My mother's extensive collection of 'old stuff' was lovingly, sometimes impetuously, acquired, much like yours. But lacking the knack for creatively displaying it, and the unwillingness to allow the dust of time to settle back over those archives of Life-the-way-it-used-to-be, she finally came to her senses and divested herself of just about every item she had. However, she never lost her fondness for such things. So, I salute her and you and all the others who perceive and appreciate the kinship of Now to Then to which every tin, pitcher, bowl, teacloth, horseshoe, utensil and battered hat testifies.

If you love them,
you need to 'experience' them, every day.
And you know in your heart, for that reason,
they are not really 'out of control.'

Is that great or what!

Speak up any time, Anonymous. Better yet, leave us your name so we can get to know you.

  3. Cher, I'm so glad you shared this on the main page! That "experience" s/he speaks of...wow. And our stuff "testifies". Wow! Couldn't have been said better!
