Lone shoe in the Lone Star State!

Just how does something like this happen? One left shoe in the lost and found. Didn't the owner realize as she was walkin' away that things weren't exactly right?

Admittedly, I see lone shoes by the side of the road all the time here in Texas. One tennis shoe. One rubber boot. One flip flop. But I've never seen one cowboy boot. I guess cowboys know when to hold 'em and know when to walk away...with both boots on - which, of course, reminds me of the song The Gambler, made famous by Kenny Rogers.

You got to know when to hold 'em, know when to fold 'em,
Know when to walk away and know when to run.
You never count your money when you're sittin' at the table.
There'll be time enough for countin' when the dealin's done.

I bet you junk dealers didn't realized until just now that the above chorus of that song was written just for you!

  1. Not so...remember Mindy and her one boot find in Waco? I never count my money till the dealin's done. I think it's bad luck!

  2. Trash, I didn't think that was a cowboy boot though, just a boot! Maybe she'll tell us.

  3. I was trying to buy a pair of shoes yesterday and I couldn't find the left one! I looked through every box and checked the sizes to make sure someone hadn't "customized" their purchase. Two clerks looked through all the boxes, scoured the shelves and looked in the stock room! No left shoe! No, Cher, I didn't buy the right shoe for half off! My point is...maybe we are having a missing shoe pandemic here in Texas! Hold on to your shoes, girls!

  4. That drives me crazy! Where in the Hell does that one lone shoe in the middle of a 6 lane freeway come from. I mean was some guy standing there when all of a sudden he realized he was on the 635 loop and needed to get the hell out of Dodge. He then decides to leap out of traffic leaving his one shoe behind? Or is he and his other shoe on the front of some 18 wheeler's grill?

  5. OKAY...I can attest to the reason why there is only one shoe. This happened to me on Sunday as I was packing up after the show. the ding dong porter couldn't keep my stuff on his cart and one of my RHINESTONE sandals fell off somewhere between my stall and the truck. I didn't know this until yesterday when I was unpacking. SO< at Scott's there is probably one VERY EXPENSIVE little sandal looking forlorn. 'IT' Happens.
perhaps I will blog about it.....lulu

  6. The boot found in Waco was a harness boot. But, y'all might recall that a couple months later, I did find a lone cowboy boot, in my size, on the side of the road. I spent many a day, eyeballing that area, in hopes that I just wasn't seeing the partner. Alas, I have a collection of lone boots. ~Mindy
