When is a seat not a seat?

When it's a bathtub!

My stepmother Rita never uses the tub in her master bath. In fact, she deems it an eyesore of gigantic proportions. For one thing, it's white, a non-color not used much in her wonderfully decorated home.

So Rita covered a cut-to-fit piece of plywood with padding and fabric and laid it over the tub. She then added adhesive Velcro to the side of the tub so she could attach a ruffle.

She added an abundance of colorful pillows to hide the facet.

Need to use the tub? It's all easily removed and stored in a closet or under a bed.

That Rita is clever. It runs in the family!

  3. Definitely the nicest bathtub I've seen. Very creative! Also a nice place for storage if you're not going to use the tub.

  4. OK, I'm loving that! Perfect for a tub that's seldom used. Her colors are great too.

  8. When we bought our house, it had an old- timey "John Wayne" tub...thats what Lurch called it. It was an old cowboy tub built in with a wooden surround and it was cool as heck but was pretty useless. However, since the tub is worth some money, we removed the tub with its wood enclosure and moved it in the living room...and I did the same thing as your Mother In Law! I think hers looks better! Why did I move it in the living room...because I was remodeling the bathroom. Where is the tub now? In storage...I hope to see it at Warrenton in the fall. Anyway, tell your MIL good job...very clever!

  9. I'd kick a puppy if I had to just to HAVE a bath tub in my bathroom, lol. We have a huge walk in shower... it could so easily hold a lovely bath tub... even a colored one. But no. Hub decided a Jacuzzi on the back patio was better. Guys just don't get it.
