As I sit here waiting for Hurricane Ike to spin into our area, I can’t seem to focus on any particular task. It's 9/11, a day we'll never forget. But my mind also goes back to Sept. 8, 1900. That's the day a huge hurricane unexpectedly hit Galveston, Texas.
The people back then must have been going about their business as usual, just like New Yorkers on 9/11. Neither group of people had a warning system. Neither realized what was hurtling towards them.
So many lives lost.
So, unfocused as I am, I’ve posted a picture of one of my favorite pieces of art. It’s a cypress knee I painted. I hope you enjoy it. Art comforts me.
Be safe, my friends.

The side view shows how the long
snout is just an illusion.
