Dear Journal

Dear Journal,

Today we came home from our long vacation. Even the Texas heat feels good. It's downright cold up north! How do those Yankees stand it?

Dear Journal,

Didn't have to work today so laid in bed late catching up on my TV watching. My fingers found a lump in my breast. Good thing my annual is already scheduled for next Tuesday. Funny how our body tells us things if we'll only listen! Probably nothing. Sure shows the importance of self-exams, though.

Dear Journal,

Put M-I-L in the hospital tonight. A raging infection has taken over her body, making her hallucinate. She taught history all afternoon, her caregiver said. Old people don't always generate fevers. Since his mother is crazy as a bedbug and his wife lumpy as an old couch, I'll have to rename my husband Furniture Man! Poor guy.

Dear Journal,

My GYN is "concerned" about my lump. Tried to get me in at the radiologist today but couldn't get me an appointment until tomorrow. The speed of it all makes me nervous.

Dear Journal,

Had my mammogram and sonogram today. Yup. It's a lump, all right. A dern tumor. The radiologist gave me the option of surgery to yank it out to analyze or a needle biopsy to see what we're dealing with. I chose the needle. Ouch. Hurts to think about. I'll tell you, dear journal, all about it soon.

  1. Has the biopsy been done yet? I will be praying for benign results.
BTW, this isn't the kind of souvenir I wanted to hear about after your vacation. You've been missed!

  2. Cher, Think positive. Keep telling yourself that it is not a tumor (say it like Arnie in Kindergarten Cop). Say it over and over again in fact repeat after me I have healthy happy titties.

  3. Sorry to hear the woes, hope all turns out well. Had a few of those removed myself. It is a relief to get them out and I will pray they aren't anything for concern, and if you are a pop drinker like I was, QUIT! Someone (a dr. ) told me the two could be linked... so I quit without question. (If anything it got me off of pop). Prayers for you...

  14. Keeping you in my thoughts and prayers Cher. We've missed you. And crazy old people, sometimes I think its kind of cool they can escape to another place & time in their minds rather than me stuck where they are now. Both of my parents were crazy as hell before they died, but I always felt it was better that way than realizing where they were at the moment. Keep us updated on the dreaded "T" okay?

  16. My Good Texas Girlfriend: Welcome Back! Oh, my! I hate to hear about the tumor. Been there...done that. Test upon test upon test sent me to MD Anderson with three doctors with three needle biopsies at once. However, I had good results. You will too! If you don't, we are right there with you (literally) until that nasty little bugger is out of your hot bod! Just another test...and we all know that you are a star student! Let us know!
